My Story

Hi, I’m Gretchen! I’m a market researcher by day, but art and graphic design have always been two of my side interests. I’ve dabbled in drawing, painting, photography, and other types of creative work for years, but never did much beyond just dabble. When I’m not crunching numbers and analyzing (sometimes way too seriously) the way the world works, my husband and I also devote a lot of our time to animal rescue. We have a cat (Tweek) and three dogs (Banjo, Margot, and Farley) of our own and actively volunteer in animal rescue. Art and animals always seem to make life better so, putting my artistic prowess to the test I figured, why not try to combine the two in one?

TwoPeas Postcards LLC was born in 2020, paying homage to Banjo and Margot (who I always say are two peas in a pod) - with its name. I started making postcards starring cartoon animals that carried simple, everyday messages you can send “just because” - not necessarily for a holiday or special event you have to remember. Gradually, I expanded to create more postcards featuring Asheville, North Carolina - the city we’ve loved calling home for more than six years - and added note cards, framed prints, and other small art items into the mix! It takes a while for any artistic endeavor to get noticed, but I’ve been lucky enough to sell some of my art on Etsy as well as to some small businesses both in and outside of Asheville. I’m proud of the achievement, but not as much for the revenue potential as the fact that seeing my art make others happy and selling it gives me the opportunity to give more back to the charities and non-profit organizations that are so important in our world. Our family grew in the Fall of 2022 when we welcomed Farley - one of our most recent fosters through the Southeast Corgi Rescue - as a permanent addition. So, we’re officially up to three peas and it’s pretty awesome. Because, with three times the corgi, you can have three times the fun! The dogs have also officially introduced their band, Two Corgs and a Banjo! Keep scrolling and you’ll see the cover for their new album and hit single from December 2022.

If you follow TwoPeas postcards, you’ll notice that animals are a big part of what we do. I regularly donate a portion of the proceeds from my art sales to animal rescues, non-profits, and other cause-oriented organizations. I’ve also hosted art fundraisers to support other rescue and community organizations that are important to me, and have even used art as a way to encourage people to have their voices heard in the political realm - creating postcards that encourage voting and honor important political figures and making ornaments that benefit important political campaigns.

I’ll be updating this site regularly with new art, blog posts, and information about exciting events in and outside of Asheville that may interest you. The coming year will also be one of growth for TwoPeas postcards LLC. While I’ll still be offering the pre-made cards and small art items you see here on the site, I’ve begun to focus primarily on custom creations. Some of my most exciting projects are the custom cards, prints, and keepsakes I’ve made based on my clients’ own vision, and I’ll continue to make those visions come to life in 2024. If you or someone you know is getting married or planning another milestone event, contact me about custom options for Save the Dates, event invite sets, and thank you cards! Looking for a custom logo, stationery, or other custom branded merchandise? You’ve come to the right site because I can make those happen too! Stay tuned for an announcement about where you’ll be able to find merch from TwoPeas postcards out in the “real world” in 2024, because we’re always growing and always looking to make an impact for more causes and organizations.

You can find ways to order custom items on Etsy, send me an email, subscribe to my newsletter and follow along on Facebook or Instagram. I try to post fun art and new creations regularly, and truly appreciate all the inspiration I’ve received from my followers.

Thanks so much for visiting my site, and for taking a look around. I hope you like what you see!
